What Happens When a Person Dies? – Why We Need to Know – Part Four of Four
When doctrines are presented some people say “The important thing is to know Jesus.” However, it was Jesus who gave us doctrines so that we would not be misled and that we would know more about Him. If we were to believe that the dead are ghosts walking around the Devil will easily disguise himself as our relatives and friends and appear to us and try to lead us away from God. The Devil would try to evoke sympathy for his cause. He will imitate our relatives and have their scars and their knowledge and mannerisms. Remember it was the Devil who came in the form of a snake and tempted Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden (Gen. 3:1). It was the Devil too that impersonated the prophet Samuel when King Saul went to a witch to try to call Samuel up from the dead to ask advice from him (See 1 Sam. 28:11,12).
2 Thess. 2:9 tells us that Jesus will come “after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.”
2 Cor. 4:4 “In whom the god [common “g”] of this world [Satan] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
1 Tim. 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”
1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
Matt. 24:11 “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
Even Jesus will be impersonated.
Matt. 24:5 “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
Matt. 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Finally, study God’s Word so that you need never be misled.
2 Tim. 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
