The Red Letter Bible
The whole Bible is inspired not just the words of Jesus in red – proof of that from the words of Jesus in red! The Red Letter Bible is simply a Bible where the words of Jesus in the New Testament are in red. Now this may be a help but I have found that in the lives of some it is a hindrance. People come away with the idea that that the words in red are to be followed while the words in black are merely the opinion of men living long ago. I have heard people, after hearing the scriptures written by Paul or Peter, then ask “But did Jesus ever say that? Did Jesus teach that?” Many who have a high regard for what Jesus said look down on what the Holy Spirit said through Peter, Paul and James. There are those who only believe the words of Jesus in red ink. Let us look at what Jesus said about that using only His words in red. (Let us bear in mind that in Bible times the Old Testament was referred to as the law and the prophets or Moses and the prophets).
THE WORDS OF JESUS IN RED
(1) Luke 24:25-27,44
“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (See also John 1:45)
“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
(2) John 5:46,47
“For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?”
(3) Matt. 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
(4) Matt. 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
(5) Matt. 7:12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
(6) Matt. 22:40 “On these two commandments [love for God and love for man] hang all the law and the prophets.”
(7) Luke 16:31 “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
All seven quotations above were the words of Jesus in red! So it is evident therefore that the whole Bible is inspired and not only the words in red. (See 2 Tim. 3:16). Are you READY to believe?
