7 Things That God Hates
The Bible is full of lists one of which is the Ten Commandments. However, there is a list of seven things that God hates in the book ofProverbs 6. These seven things seem to be part and parcel of the daily life of so many in this sinful world that we live in. What are these seven things that we ought to avoid so dearly? What are the seven that God calls an abomination?
Prov. 6:16-19 gives us the details:
(1) A proud look
Yes, pride is what caused the spiritual fall of Lucifer (Isa. 14:12-14). This breaks the first two commandments (Ex. 20:3-6).
(2) A lying tongue
The Devil is called the father of lies (John 8:44). This breaks the ninth commandment (Ex. 20:9).
(3) Hands that shed innocent blood
The Bible says that the Devil was a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44). This breaks the sixth commandment (Ex. 20:13).
(4) An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
See the Devil’s imaginings in Isa. 14:12-14; Rev. 12:17. This breaks any of the commandments (Ex. 20:1-17).
(5) Feet that be swift in running to mischief
The Devil is always up to mischief (Job 1:7; 2:2). Any one of the Ten Commandments is broken by this abomination.
(6) A false witness that speaketh lies
Lying is so hated by God that it is surprisingly mentioned TWICE! (See John 8:44 again). This breaks the ninth commandment (Ex. 20:9).
(7) He that soweth discord among brethren
The Devil did this from the beginning and caused one third of God’s angels to doubt God (Rev. 12:3,4). He then proceeded to make Adam and Eve doubt God (Gen. 3:1). Commandments #5 to #10 come to mind here.
This list was not given to satisfy anyone’s curiosity but to warn everyone that these things must be avoided if we are to be God’s friend. We cannot expect Him to hear our prayers when we are practicing any abomination. Will you avoid these seven things that God hates?
